Summer 2025 Prayer Letter

July 1, 2025

Dear faithful friends,

"Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved." Psalm 62:1,2

How we pray that Haitian Christians everywhere are waiting on God, who is their salvation, their rock and their defense. Their situation is grave in their own country with gangs trying to force them out of their homes for no reason. One of our former orphans, Prenel, who now works at the orphanage started by Remy and Dr. Wislyn, texted us to say that his mother, who lives in the central part of Haiti, was forced from her home and is now sleeping in the bushes and weeds with no help in sight and fearing for her life. This continues to be the plight of thousands of Haitians. Now there is a threat that many Haitians in the U.S. are going to be deported to Haiti to live (if possible) under these awful circumstances. How we pray that the Lord will deliver the law-abiding, hard-working Haitians in some way. Our eyes are upon Him. We know that you are praying, too.

How we thank the Lord that the gangs have not reached the Morne-Rouge, Cap-Haitian area yet. People are suffering, however, from the results of the crimes being committed in other areas. The traffic in front of the orphanage and into Cap-Haitian is very dangerous now. Our friends put their lives in their own hands every time they leave the yard to go buy food or transact business that needs to be done in Cap-Haitian. Food is scarce and very expensive. Gas for the generator to pump water and provide lights for the orphanage and school is also very expensive. We have had trouble getting money to the orphanage and this has put them in very dire straits. We praise the Lord that He has given us a solution for this problem. God is in control and we are trusting Him completely to show us the way.

We were so blessed to be able to go to North Carolina to visit Pastor Cebien Alexis for a day. He came to the States to have cataract surgery in both eyes. The surgery was successful, thank the Lord, and he returned to Haiti on July 15th. He looked so good when we saw him. On August 20 he will be 81 and the Lord has definitely kept him strong both physically and spiritually. He is still having his clinic and helping the EBAC pastors with everything he has. He is truly a man of God and a servant of the Lord. We have been so blessed to work with him. He is planning on having his annual pastors' conference the second week of August. Please pray that many pastors will be able to attend. This would be a time of great encouragement to all of them.

We thank you all for your continued support and prayers in these difficult times. There is nothing too hard for our Lord.

Rejoicing in Him,

Kathy Gouker and Alice Wise
